Development of new gut on chip replicating the gut structure and dynamics

A

Abstract

The intestine is a major organ of the human body. The complexity of the gut and its microenvironment is now well established however all the mechanisms underlying the gut homeostasis have not been yet elucidated.

In this interdisciplinary project, we aim at developing a new gut on chip model to unravel these mechanisms. In particular, we will develop a new model of gut on chip that will reproduce both the gut 3D structure as well as the dynamics of the mechanical and biochemical constrains of this organ.

This new gut on chip will represent a new generation of guts on chips, replicating the complexity of the intestine and enabling for the first time the control and the decoupling of the different parameters that could affect intestinal cell proliferation, migration and differentiation.
